How Dispatch Works

Dispatch is built on a simple principle: aggregate the world's news from trusted sources and present it without bias or editorialization. Here's how we do it.

1. Source Collection

We maintain a curated list of over 1,350 RSS feeds from established publishers across six world regions: North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Sources range from major international outlets to respected regional and specialty publications.

2. Automated Ingestion

Every 5 minutes, our ingestion pipeline fetches the latest articles from all sources simultaneously. Each article is parsed for its title, description, author, publication time, category, region, and image. We process up to 40 feeds concurrently with strict timeouts to ensure reliability.

3. Categorization

Articles are organized into 14 categories based on their source feed: News, Business & Finance, Technology & Science, AI News, Entertainment & Culture, Art, Fashion, Travel, Lifestyle, Food, Sports, X Feeds, and Instagram Feeds. Each source is pre-mapped to its primary category for consistent classification.

4. Deduplication

When major news breaks, dozens of outlets cover the same story. Our deduplication system limits the number of articles from any single publisher per feed view, ensuring diverse perspectives surface rather than repetitive coverage from the same source.

5. Feed Delivery

The curated feed is served to you with intelligent caching. Articles are sorted by recency by default, with options for engagement-based and personalized “For You” sorting. Small categories receive reserved slots so they are never drowned out by high-volume topics.

6. Your Customization

You control what you see. Filter by region and category, mute publishers you don't want, adjust the display density, choose your preferred font, and switch between light, dark, and sepia themes. Your preferences are saved locally and sync across devices when signed in.
