Sony is moving forward with an adaptation that promises to stay true to its violent roots. R-Rated Bloodborne animated movie in development Sony Pictures has officially confirmed that Bloodborne is being turned into an R-rated animated movie.
The announcement came during CinemaCon, where studio executive Sanford Panitch said the film will fully embrace the intense and graphic tone that made the original game stand out. The story will follow a traveler entering a dark, gothic city filled with terrifying creatures. That setup closely matches the game’s core idea, where players explore a haunting world packed with danger and mystery.
The film is being developed with PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation, showing that Sony is keeping things in-house to maintain authenticity (via Variety). Popular creator Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán McLoughlin, is also attached as a producer. He shared his excitement with fans on Reddit, saying he will do everything possible to make this the “BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible.” He also called it his “favorite game” and acknowledged how “passionate the fanbase is.” The original Bloodborne, developed by FromSoftware, gained a massive following for its overly challenging gameplay, eerie world design, creative monsters, and deep lore.
Players bombarded it with love thanks to its horror and action elements, along with its cryptic storytelling style. Even years after release, fans continue to ask for more content from the franchise. This project also fits into Sony’s larger push into video game movies.
Recent adaptations like The Super Mario Bros. Movie have shown how successful these projects can be at the box office. Sony is also working on films like Helldivers and The Legend of Zelda, showing a clear focus on gaming franchises.
With its R-rated approach and strong creative backing, the Bloodborne movie could finally deliver the kind of adaptation fans have been waiting for. Originally reported by Rishabh Shandilya on SuperHeroHype.
