A fresh, inclusive listening experience is coming to South Africa. Entanglements, a grassroots festival of exploratory and experimental music rooted in the Global South, will debut from 24–26 April 2026 at chiesa di PAZZO LUPi in Melville, Johannesburg, before heading to Cape Town (Ganesh) from 1–3 May 2026. Presented by SENSA, Entanglements builds on the legacy of the beloved Edge of Wrong festival (2006–2018), evolving it into a more open, urgent, and inclusive platform for experimental, improvisational, and avant-garde music from the Global South. At its core, the festival invites audiences to listen differently.

It creates a welcoming, borderless space where experimentation meets accessibility — breaking down barriers between artists and audiences. The Johannesburg edition features a dynamic lineup including Naledi Chai, Nandele Maguni, Cedrik Fermont, Sonic Lens, Ogorogile Nong, Chantelle Gray, Garth Erasmus, and many more. In addition to evening performances, the festival offers daytime workshops on deep listening, modular synthesis, audiovisual practice, film screenings, talks, and shared listening sessions.
