The federal government has implored stakeholders in the country’s projects to invest deeply in education of young kids for them to leave streets ,and become useful to themselves, society and the nation at large . The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa disclosed this on Monday in his address during the commissioning of Ultra modern GYB model Science secondary school at Nagazi in Adavi local government area in kogi state. He said education remains a driver of national development, noting that every knowledge impacted to a child is like empowering a generation, since future belong to those who prepare for it with purpose .

According to him, the federal government introduced Nelfund programme to ensure no Nigerian student is deprived of tertiary education due to financial constraints . He said the federal government has disbursed over N200b in less than 2 and half year to the benefiting Nigerian students. Dr Alausa commended governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his giant strides in education and security, describing the initiatives and tangible impacts as a product of his visionary and purposeful leadership.

The Minister added further that the mega school conscept being implemented for every child to have quality education will produce skills and competitive workforce for national development. He said : “Education is a bedrock of any country’s development; let get these young kids off streets. let get them schools. Let start feeding school programme, one meal per day to encourage them to go back to school.

“I thank all our governors for new emphasises on investment in education. I challenge you more, let build more primary schools to get them off streets” . The Minister applauded governor Ododo for using over 30 percent of his budgetary allocation on education , maintaining that the governor’s “emphasis and tenacity in maintaining security in the State is second to non.

“You invested additional funding the president has unlocked to the state judiciously, investing in critical areas of economy: education, infrastructure, security, and building schools and hospitals . “As at today , Kogi state is one of the states that has three Universities, and several polytechnics. That is service to humanity.

“I use your Excellency as a point of reference to all governors in Nigeria today to thank them for all their efforts and sacrifice in building s sustainable education in the country”. Earlier , governor Ahmed Usman Ododo said that the GYB Model Secondary School, Nagazi, stands as a monumental expression of his administration’s commitment to raise a generation equipped with knowledge, character, and the capacity to lead. The governor said : Today, we gather to empower generations yet unborn.

We are creating an identity for Kogi as a state that cherished knowledge with an achievable ambition to becoming the nation’s knowledge center in the nearest future.. “We are committed to nurturing critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation, while strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education to prepare our students as innovators, solution providers, and drivers of development”. The occasion that attracted dignities from all walks of lives from within and outside the state , including Royal fathers saw the commissioning of GYB model schools in Nagazi and Oke-Ibukun in Adavi and Kabba/ Bunu local government in the State respectively.
