It seemed that he returned to see if the bone marrow of either of his children, the known and unknown, would fit him. However, a shocking twist revealed that the bone marrow did not match.

Lily actress Christel Khalil broke down this twist in a new interview. In Malcolm’s return, Lily found out that Nathan was her biological sibling.

However, a new twist on The Young and the Restless revealed that neither of Malcolm’s children was a match for him. This effectively means that he could die very soon. “I was very surprised when Josh Griffith told me what was going to be coming up,” Christel Khalil said (via Soaps.com).

“It was just kind of assumed that one of [his] children would be a match.” Khalil expected the same thing that most fans did. She also experienced a similar shock as most fans, hence. “It was kind of like this devastating blow of, ‘Oh my God, how can this be?’ Because I think they both kind of expected that it would be one of us!

So the fact that it wasn’t was a really big deal and devastating,” she explained about the twist. Sharing the same thought as fans of The Young and the Restless, Khalil previewed, “They’re thinking, ‘Oh my God, is Malcolm going to die?’” She added, “Are they not going to find a match in time? Because they’re up against the clock!

So I think it’s a really scary, stressful thing for them to find out!” So, it seems that things will only get more tense surrounding Malcolm going forward, and it may even lead to his death ultimately. The upcoming episodes of The Young and the Restless will delve deeper into this.
